“Many thanks go to countless hands who helped put this production into order.” He described all of their contributions as “a humble offering through our cultural lens to the beauty, joy and sacredness of the Laie temple. My hope as a kumu hula is that we can leave a mark for our children, so that they will know how much we cherish the temple.”

Uncle David Hannemann ‘Graduates’ from PCC
The Polynesian Cultural Center honored Tausilinu’u David Hannemann, 92, a Samoan with German heritage, as its first full-time paid employee and most-senior living associate when he retired — again — during a special “graduation” ceremony on December 28, 2017. Four generations of his family, friends and PCC colleagues marked the occasion with Polynesian chanting, gift-giving, memories, praises and, of course, a feast.

Polynesian College and High School Football Players of the Year of 2017 nominees announced
The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame has selected Washington State University Defensive Lineman Hercules Mata’afa as the 2017 recipient of the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award. Also, the PFHoF announces the nominees for the 2017 High School Player of the Year Award.
2017 Polynesian High School “Player of the Year” finalists announced
For the first time this year, the PFHOF has announced five finalists for the inaugural 2017 Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award. The five 2017 finalists, selected from a watch list of 50-plus possibles, include: QB Chevan Cordeiro (St. Louis, Honolulu); LB Palaie Gaoteote (Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas); ATH Talanoa Hufanga (Crescent Valley, Corvallis, OR); ATH Brandon Kaho (Reno High, Reno, NV); and LB Solomon Tuliaupupu (Mater Dei, Santa Ana, CA).
