My mother grew up on Oahu and just shared some memories including a tsunami that happened that year. She was in elementary school and remembered a classmate waiting for the school bus who her life and also recounted water spewing up from the beauty hole like a geyser when the wave hit.
Yes, I’ve read about that also. From the 40s through the 60s we experienced a tsunami once each decade. I have found none on record since then. Fingers crossed that this continues. Thank you for sharing your mother’s memories.
