This amazing shopping center is found at the entrance to the world famous Polynesian Cultural Center in the little island town of Lāʽie, Oahu. With plenty of free parking and easy access, the Hukilau Marketplace is a popular spot for local residents to grab dinner with the kids, for guests of the Center to take a break and refuel, or for tourists to finish after a day at the beach. Pounders was already mentioned in our first blog, but since it is the cornerstone eatery of the Marketplace, we want to make sure to mention it here also. This and more are served daily from their kiosk directly across from the main entrance to Pounders Restaurant. This is Korean Hawaiian Fusion BBQ. Our resident Korean BBQ truck is the home of the Shaka Shake. The idea is to take the bowl of delicious ingredients, then shake to blend all of the flavors. Shaking the bowl ensures that every bite is filled with a perfect mix of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. Whether you’re already a fan of traditional Korean BBQ or looking to try something new, Shaka Shake offers a unique dining experience that celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Hawaii. This food truck can be found at the south end of the Marketplace.
