Do you follow the Polynesian Cultural Center on Instagram? On our Instagram page we work to continue sharing the Spirit of Polynesia with people all over the world through posts like the one below:
Content like this is possible because of the content creation team of the Center’s marketing department! The Center’s employees consist of mainly students from the neighboring Brigham Young University – Hawaii and this is true for the content creation team (read this article if you’d like to hear more about student employees love for working at the Center).
The lead content creator for the Polynesian Cultural Center’s official Instagram is a student himself! His name is Harold Pedroso, a Hospitality and Tourism Management major from the Philippines.
For simple content, Pedroso is able to work on his own, scheduling the content, meeting with the cultural performers, and capturing content. He often spends his days walking through the Center to capture candid shots of the guests connecting with the cultural performances and the performers sharing the culture. For bigger or lengthier content projects, Pedroso will work with other content creator team members.
After capturing content, you can find him in the office editing the pictures and videos and submitting posts for proofreading to prepare them for sharing with the world.
When asked about his favorite part of working for the official Instagram page Pedroso said, “My most favorite part is being able to see the [cultural performers] and talk to them on a regular basis! I love learning about other people’s culture and being able to share it with others.”
Pedroso emphasized the importance and purpose of the social media page by sharing that, “Our main goal is to share with the world the beautiful cultures of Polynesia inside the Center. We want to reach as many people as possible so everyone can learn the uniqueness and the beauty of these different cultural villages.”
Finally, Pedroso shared that another special part of capturing photos and videos in the villages is “being able to preserve and save these special moments and so it can last till the next generations to come.”
