“We are honored to announce the return of the most elite Fireknife competition in the world! Like our mighty coconut trees, the storms may bend us, but we will not be broken! ” Steve Laulu, Islands Director at the Polynesian Cultural Center and co-host of the 2021 World Fireknife Championships
It’s time for the 28th World Fireknife Championship!
Last year, just as we were preparing for our annual fireknife extravaganza, the world came to a screeching stop. Wanting to be a part of the solution, and not the problem, the Polynesian Cultural Center made the difficult, but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 event.
Recognizing that health and safety is still the most important consideration, management put their heads together and mapped out various ways we could avoid another year of disappointment for our loyal fireknife fans and amazing competitors. We are very pleased to announce that we will be holding our competition while maintaining the regulations and recommendations of state and federal agencies. Some changes were necessary, but we are ready to provide another exciting competition with four competing categories: Womens, Mens, Intermediate (12 – 17) and Juniors (5 – 11).
